Kenzo's Birthday.

Hard to believe Kenzo is one year old, Text and (lots of) pics tomorrow.
As I mentioned earlier this years photo exhibition is up in La Gacilly and I will take some photographs this weekend as long as it doesn't rain, but a youtube search found this from a couple of years back.

For those that can't wait, Keith at Breton diary has posted some here;

Nasty birds

Poultry are evil, especially to there own kind if there in trouble, My number 1 goose managed to get his head stuck in a fence, he was promptly attacked by all the other geese, I risked a serious pecking rescuing him. Norman, number 1 coq made a serious mistake, one that he should have learned from the last time, I was out hanging some clothes on the line, Norman and one of his Harem used the opportunity to get at the dogs food bowls, Norman was attacked by the dogs, Harveys and Cassie dragging him around by his neck while Lucy Looloo's did her usual jumping around barking and pretending to be brave, I managed to get Norman free, not a mark on him but an injured leg, he went outside and after a few minutes seemed to recover, then got to close to the geese and started to eat his grain, 2 geese attacked him, as soon as I managed to rescue him from them he was attacked by the bantam coq, he's feeling very sorry for himself now, limping, possibly injured wings and his tail feathers are down, I've put him in a run where he should be safe, I will see how he gets on, hess still limping around and is eating, so there may be hope. If he doesn't recover, I will still find a use for him.

Shopping in NOZ

They do sell a lot of rubbish, but Noz is a pile it up high, sell it cheap shop, most things just placed in trays than rummaged through by bargain hunters, most things losing the wrappers and prices as they go. But they also sell some bargains, so worth a weekly look.

Bargain

Rosies Coleslaw

So simple,
Ingredients;
White cabbage
Carrots
Onion
Lemon Juice
Mayonnaise
Dijon Mustard (optional)
Thinly slice the cabbage
Add grated carrot

Thinly sliced onoin

Mayonnaise and if used the Dijon mustard
Add the lemon juice, Mix everything well.

Rosies Easy savoury flan

How easy is this,
Ingredients, I have used so many different ingredients in the past, have a look what you have in the house, even the pastry is optional. A perfect summer flan, eat warm with couscous and a baked potato or cold with a salad.
For this version,
A packet of ready made and rolled pastry
Smoked bacon lardons
4 or 5 eggs
creme fraiche
3 leeks
Feta cheese
curry powder

Method
Warm oven to C180
Line a flan dish with pastry, (I have done the flan without pastry before)
Fry the leeks and bacon together till the leeks are tender
Whisk eggs with 3 tablespoons of creme fraiche and a level tablespoon of curry powder
After the leek and bacon has cooled slightly (so as not to start the egg cooking in the bowl) add to the eggs with the crumbled feta cheese and fold the ingredients together, pour into flan dish and bake till cooked, about 30 mins.

Bon Appetit

New Ducks

Dan and Vero bought me two ducks today, the dark one looks like a wild or semi wild duck.

Flowers in my front garden.

As some one who is an expert in growing weeds, I'm rather pleased with these.

La Gacilly (again)

Every year La Gacilly has an exhibition of Photographs, rather Large ones, posted around the village, this years are starting to be put up and I will start posting them from this weekend, this Photo however is a poster outside a wine shop, and I rather like it.
