I can manage

Paul drives 75km each day to work, the roads on his route are not treated in the winter and if the weather is really bad his employer will put him up in a hotel near to work, its important that I can do what are traditionally the "Mans Jobs" Changing a wheel, changing a plug, unblocking a sink, unfreezing a pipe, I can also cut my own firewood.

Its not that I have to do it, just to be sure that I can.

What I saw today.

Well it was yesterday, outside the Mairé in Pipriac, involved the pompiers and a very noisy band.

Rosies Apple Crumble Tart

Rolled pastry, (I buy ready made)
5-6 Apples (sliced),
Jam
Chopped Almonds

For the crumble;
Flour
Sugar
Butter
Just put the lot together and mix till you end up with a bread crumb like texture.

Line a flan dish with the pastry, put a thin coating of jam over the pastry, arrange your sliced apples, sprinkle the almonds on top and cover with the crumble mix.


Bake at 200c till the golden brown, about 25 minutes. Serve with Ice or Chantilly cream or hot Custard.

Christmas Lights

I posted a few snaps of the lights in Sixt sur Aff on Face Book and Keef at "A Taste Of Garlic" suggested that I might get one of his awards if I did a good write up on the local Christmas decorations, now Sixt is only a small village and like most villages reuse the same lights each year, I was disappointed that the Church hadn't got its lights on, but maybe they haven't finished putting them up yet.

SANTA NOT WELCOME

As there's not a lot to say about the lights in Sixt I thought I would go to La Gacilly tonight and take some photographs there, up to a couple of years ago the bridge over the river was decorated with trees and lights and really looked festive, last year they didn't do much on the bridge but had a light show on the library, looked nice but I did prefer seeing the trees and to be honest can't see why they couldn't do both. Now I did say that I thought Sixt sur Aff's lights were not finished well I really hope that La Gacilly have more to do, I had to drive into the village today so thought I would take a look at the lights to see if it was worth me coming back tonight to take the photographs, its not, none of the lights are up over the roads, lots of white Christmas trees in place but nothing decorated, Indeed the village decorations had a very sinister look.

It seemed that the village had a problem with Santa and can only assume that someone didn't like there presents last year, maybe they were on the naughty list! They've decided to hang Santa!!! Some were even decapitated. He aint welcome round here.

Winter arrives.

Rosies Tiramisu

For 2 people;

8 finger biscuits
Fresh coffee,
140gr Mascarpone
1 egg yolk
1tbsp sugar
50gr whipped cream
Grated chocolate

crumble 6 biscuits and soak in a little coffee, optional you could also pour on a little alcohol, I've never tried it but as I post this I'm thinking of trying Rum in the future.

( I do these separately because to much coffee gives me a headache and Paul likes his strong.)

Put the soaked fingers into individual dishes.
Whip the egg yolk and the sugar together, add the Mascarpone and the cream and fold together.




Cover the biscuits with the Mascarpone , crumble another biscuit on top then cover with the last of the Mascarpone and sprinkle with grated chocolate.
