Paris

On different weekends Dan and Veronique, then Mike and Violaine spent weekends in Paris, although seeing many of the same sights they both had different way of doing things. Dan and Vero were originally going to drive to the capital, bad weather altered there plans and booked train tickets, the night before they departed, this was expensive, almost €248 return for the two of them, but taking into account petrol, tolls and the drive it self, in bad weather it was to me the right option. Dan and Vero stayed close to Paris and used the Metro to get around, visiting the Eiffel Tower, The Louvre, Arc de Triumph and a stroll and window shopping on the Champs Elysée.

Mike and Violaine booked there train, bus tickets and Seine boat trip in advance, booking in advance meant that they got first class tickets for the price of second, the hotel they got was outside Paris and meant getting a train into Paris each day but once in Paris they didn't need to use the Metro itself, the bus tickets they had was for a bus doing a tourist route, with commentary on route, they could leave the bus anywhere and they ran at 4 minute intervals, so never a wait for the next one, it meant getting to the sights they wanted to see, and those they didn't know were there, without having to find them for them selves, while walking around Paris and discovering things of interest can be a great way to do things, but on a weekend trip the bus has to be the way to do it.

There are hundreds of photographs and I've posted a "few" here, the rest can be seen through my Facebook.
